It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.
– John Wooden
Heating and cooling, like life, is made up of many small details and decisions.
A detail missed here and there in many industries might only cause a small concern. In heating and cooling, though, a missed detail can lead to significant issues.
For instance, just last week our team was out to fix a new client’s air conditioner in the Indianapolis area. The homeowner had an older system that had been installed prior to him purchasing the home, and the system hadn’t been functioning consistently. One moment the air conditioner would trip the breaker, another moment it would run correctly.
What our team found was disconcerting to say the least. During the initial work done (by another HVAC company), the electrical disconnect that supplies power to the air conditioner had multiple code violations. On top of not using a proper fitting to supply the wires through the wall, the installing company had installed a screw through the power wires.
As you can see in the picture above, the wires had charred the siding of the home. That’s right! The wires had been hot enough to burn the vinyl siding on the home. It was truly a shock to our technician that the wood frame hadn’t also caught fire during one of the many times this wire had been hot.
The lesson here? When you’re looking for an Indianapolis HVAC firm, it’s tempting to look at a special price or advertising giveaway, but please don’t overlook the details. Find an HVAC company that pays attention to the finer points. They are vital.
