As winter quickly approaches and you start to spend all of your time indoors, we’re going to talk about some of the heating and cooling accessories that can make your home more comfortable. The most important accessory to consider because of its impact on health, home and comfort is a whole-house humidifier.
To start let’s talk about some of the reasons you might consider this add-on for your home:
Health:
- Dry mouth
- Allergies
- Morning headaches
- Scratchy throat
- Cold/Flu viruses
Home:
- Wood furniture
- Wood floors
- Reduce heating bills
Comfort:
- Static electricity
- Dry skin
- Cold air
Whole-house humidifiers can target all of the above issues caused by the increasingly dry air produced in the home heating process.
As far as process and pricing go, the overall job would take about a half-day. The technician taps into the waterline and would likely use an existing air conditioner drain line. The humidifier wires into the furnace to run either in concert with the furnace fan or independent of the furnace. Overall, these projects range from $650 – $950 depending on the size and type of system that works best for your home.
