We’re often surprised when we listen to the radio and hear so many great deals from heating and cooling companies across Indianapolis. We’re surprised mainly because we hear many of these same names mentioned by homeowners when they call us for a second opinion. This marketing tactic is called several things, but “bait and switch” are what always comes to mind for me.

Here’s how the process works:

  1. Radio ad for ABC Heating and Cooling talks about new high-efficiency equipment that can save you money on your heating bills this winter. Then it implores you to call now to get a new system for thousands of dollars off their regular price.
  2. You call, and set up an appointment to hear about that new system that saves on your bills and for thousands less than the regular price.
  3. Something about your home or installation prohibits it from being a good fit for that “special” system, or that special system is out of inventory. You instead are given an estimate for a system thousand more than you have budgeted.

Instead of going through that process to call someone you can trust, we recommend cutting out the frustration. With Homesense Heating & Cooling, you’ll get a gimmick-free process. We’ll present the facts of your situation as they are. You’ll get repair costs and several different replacement options. We’ll describe the benefits of each option, the estimated operating costs, and the warranty differences among the new system options. No pressure, no editorializing about what we think you should do. Transparency and honesty from the outset. Doesn’t that sound refreshing?

If you’re in a situation where you don’t know what steps to take, give us a call (317) 458-9255, email (, or tweet (@TrustHomesense), we’d be happy to help.
