2016 Federal Tax Credits for HVAC

In the wee hours of 2015, Congress passed a retroactive and forward-looking tax credit for high efficiency heating and cooling equipment.

Amount:10% of cost up to $500 or a specific amount from $50-$300.
Expires:December 31, 2016
Details:Must be an existing home and your principal residence. New construction and rentals do not apply.

 

2016 Heat Pump Tax Credits

Amount:$300
Efficiency Requirements:
HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) >= 8.5
EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) >= 12.5
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) >= 15

 

2016 Air Conditioning Tax Credits

Amount:$300
Efficiency Requirements
SEER>= 16 (Split Systems)
EER >= 13 (Split Systems)

 

2016 Furnace Tax Credits

Amount:$150 for furnace, $50 for advanced main air circulating fan
Efficiency Requirements:
AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) > 95

Electric Service – Other Rebates
     $100 — ECM Motor
